"But imagine, if you can, Red Death's mask suddenly coming to life in order to express, with the four black holes of its eyes, its nose and its mouth, the extreme anger, the mighty fury of a demon; and not a ray of light from the sockets, for, as I learnt later, you cannot see his blazing eyes except in the dark... I fell back against the wall and he came up to me, grinding his teeth hideously, and, as I fell upon my knees, he hissed mad, incoherent words and curses at me. Leaning over me, he cried, 'Look! You want to see? See! Feast your eyes, glut your soul on my cursed ugliness! Look at Erik's face! Now you know the face of the voice! You were not content to hear me, eh? You wanted to know what I looked like? Oh you women are so inquisitive! Well, are you satisfied? I'm a good-looking fellow, eh? ...When a woman has seen me, as you have, she belongs to me. She loves me for ever! I am a kind of Don Juan, you know!' And, drawing himself up to his full height, with his hand on his hip, wagging the hideous thing that was his head on his shoulders, he roared, ' Look at me! I am Don Juan Triumphant!' And, when I turned away my head and begged for mercy, he drew my head back to him, brutally, twisting his dead fingers into my hair."
Seriously awesome stuff, I love that Erik's facial expression can be seen although we're looking at his back. Christine looks freaked out, and not like a dead fish. (*coughcoughemmyrossum*)
All hands look great and we can see Erik's bones in his popping out! And his teeth, hair and back of the hair look great. Did you draw from thought or use reference? (if reference what photo?)
The coloring looks different than your normal stuff, more harsh and that adds to the drawing. Great work luv!
That looks awesome. I don't know why, but that was one of my favorite scenes in the book.

oh I read that part of the book countless times, commiting a good portion to memory! I think its funny how he can say some of the things he did while being so angry! Its adds to his charecter "I'm a good looking fellow. When a woman has seen me, as you have, she belongs to me. She loves me for ever! " That always struck me as both brutally frightening and strangely alluring! Such fierce and violent danger wrought with...humor? I loved it!
This has got to be one of my favorite pieces from you! Excellent work!

wonderful colouring on this, great use for atmosphere, far darker than your usual stuff. I particularly like the lighting, as well as Christine's pose.
I also like how the overall theme of olive greens cast their ambiant light on Christine's hair and the background, emphasing Eriks skintones. Also in contrast is Christine's pale skin, with grey shadows. Washed out almost more corpse like than Eriks, this of course, only stresses the cadaverous atmosphere and murderous nature of The Phantom.
