Artist's Comments

Just in case one didn't exist, I felt it necessary to offer this to those of you who love the original Phantom story.

This stamp of course, features the multi-talented Lon Chaney as Erik, and the beautiful arm of Mary Philbin as Christine.

I also apologize for the language if anyone takes offense to it, it was not intentional. I just thought of the most blunt phrase I could think of! *Chuckles* This is my favourite part in the film and makes for a wonderful button.

OMG! I was talking about this with someone today... about the expression he pulls when she moves toward the grasshopper and his face just screams 'oh crap!' XD

Very funny. That's my favorite part of the Leroux version; I just think the whole thing with the grasshopper and the scorpion was very cool. Well, that and the scene with the torture chamber.

*beep beep beep* We're sorry. The person whom you have tried to reach, doesn't wish to speak to you because they have a life and you don't. Please hang up, but do not try again.

So you're saying I picked the perfect phrase? *Chuckles*

THE IRON-GIBBET

"And what is in a branch? There's a gibbet! That is why I call my forest the torture chamber!"
:iconiron-gibbet:
Erik has told Christine she has two choices: Turn the scorpion, and she saves Raoul and in turn marries Erik. Turn the grasshopper, and the gunpowder he has stacked beneath his house blows up half of Paris.

The 1925 Chaney version of the movie has this little hilarious scene where Christine actually moves to turn the grasshopper, and Erik makes that terrified face. At the last second, she turns the scorpion.
